Check out the latest article published from Plumbing and HVAC about the OGA Conference on April 8-9 at the Hilton Mississauga/Meadowvale Hotel. With multi-family and other commercial and government projects driving a significant surge in the geothermal market, the Ontario Geothermal Association (OGA) has this year created a conference for early April that will offer developers and municipalities a path to electrification and decarbonization. Some municipalities are already actively promoting cleaner systems and passing tough regulations that aim to see fossil fuels largely replaced in buildings of all sizes by the end of the 2020s. For anyone who is wondering how geothermal works, I just published an article about it. Geothermal heating and cooling is the process of extracting heat energy from the ground and using it to control room temperatures and heat water. Once the heat has been generated, it needs to be distributed around the home; there are two options, forced air distribution or hydronic distribution. The hydronic heating system takes heated water from the heat pump and distributes it through a closed network of pipes. Common methods for heating a room are underfloor heating and radiators. Hydronic systems are more efficient and more comfortable than forced air systems but they are more expensive to install. Check out all the details by clicking the link below.
